How to Wash and Care for Mulberry Silk

Mulberry silk is beautifully delicate — and when cared for properly, it’s also surprisingly long-lasting. Our silk products are made from high-grade, long-fibre 6A mulberry silk, chosen for its strength, smoothness, and ability to hold its shape over time.
Because silk fibres are finer than cotton or linen, they respond best to gentle washing. While our mulberry silk pillowcases can be machine-washed on a cold delicate cycle, hand washing remains the best option if you want to extend their life and preserve that signature smooth finish.
With a little care, silk stays soft, luminous, and comfortable for years — even with regular use.
Quick Silk Care Tips
- Use only a silk-friendly or pH-neutral detergent
- Wash silk items separately — no mixed loads
- Avoid bleach, fabric softener, and stain removers
- Wash in cool water (30°C or below)
- Line dry away from direct heat or sunlight
- Iron on a low silk setting if needed

Machine Wash Instructions
- Turn your silk pillowcase inside out and place it in a mesh laundry bag.
- Select a delicate cycle with cold water (below 30°C).
- Use a pH-neutral or silk-safe detergent only.
- Wash silk items separately from other fabrics.
- Do not use fabric softener, bleach, or tumble dry.
- Air dry flat or on a laundry stand, away from heat.
- Smooth out creases using a steamer, or iron on a low silk setting while slightly damp.
Hand Wash Instructions
- Fill a basin with cool water (30°C or below).
- Add a small amount of silk-safe detergent.
- Gently agitate — avoid twisting or wringing.
- Rinse thoroughly with cool water.
- Hang or lay flat to dry away from sunlight.
- Iron on low heat if needed, ideally inside out.
We recommend hand washing smaller silk accessories such as silk scrunchies, silk eye masks, and silk bonnets, as these pieces experience more movement and benefit from extra care.
Caring for silk isn’t complicated — it just asks for a softer touch. Treat it gently, and your silk will reward you with comfort, beauty, and durability that lasts well beyond the first few washes.
