A Brush with Nature: Our Collaboration with Maggie Lam

For our recent collaboration, we partnered with Auckland-based artist Maggie Lam to bring one of her nature-rich illustrations to life. The result is Woodland Escape — a silk slip dress inspired by the quiet magic of Cornwall Park and One Tree Hill. A love letter to Aotearoa, crafted for modern wardrobes across Australia and beyond.
Where Art Meets Fabric
Maggie began with hand-drawn illustrations — kowhai blooms, lambs grazing, fluttering butterflies, and the Southern Cross resting softly above it all. Each motif captures a moment of calm, a sense of local nostalgia, and the charm of slow, quiet landscapes.
Our role was to take those delicate illustrations and translate them into 100% mulberry silk without losing their emotion or detail. From colour calibration to scale adjustments, we worked to ensure every brushstroke felt alive on fabric.
The palette balances deep blues with grounded earth tones, giving the slip both richness and versatility. It’s the kind of piece that moves effortlessly from warm afternoon strolls to balmy evenings — paired with sandals for ease or with heels for a refined finish. A genuinely season-spanning style, especially suited to Australia’s varied climate.
