Case Study: Bringing Artist-Led Design to Silk

At LS Silk, we work closely with artists and creative professionals to translate original artwork into premium custom silk pieces. Based in Sydney, we support clients across Australia and internationally, offering a reliable production process, clear communication and consistent, high-quality results.
Project Overview: “Summer Bloom” Silk Scarf

One of our collaborations was with Sarah, an established artist and certified surface pattern designer. Her hand-painted artwork, Summer Bloom, was developed into a custom silk scarf designed for retail and gifting.

The artwork features a vivid, garden-inspired landscape—layers of florals, soft pastels and detailed brushwork. Printed on 100% mulberry silk, the final scarf showcases both the richness of the design and the soft drape associated with luxury silk accessories.
The Artist & The Design Process

Sarah’s style brings together influences from her artistic background, combining traditional floral motifs with a contemporary approach to colour and form. Her attention to detail and commitment to hand-painted craft aligned well with our production standards, allowing us to preserve the character of the original artwork throughout the printing and finishing process.

From artwork preparation to colour testing, stitching and final quality checks, every stage was managed with the goal of producing a scarf that accurately reflected the artist’s vision while meeting professional production standards.
Supporting Creatives Through Quality Production
At LS Silk, we work with artists, illustrators, galleries, schools and corporate clients who require dependable production and a premium finish. While this project originated with a New Zealand-based artist, the process reflects the same level of support and execution we provide to our clients here in Australia.

Our team handles small-batch and limited-edition runs, ensuring each piece is finished to a high standard with careful attention to detail. For artists and organisations looking to create retail products, exhibition merchandise or client gifting, this project demonstrates the possibilities of translating hand-crafted artwork onto silk.
A Collaborative Result

From the first sketch to the final hand-rolled edge, Summer Bloom showcases what can be achieved when strong design meets careful manufacturing. The result is a scarf with commercial appeal, strong storytelling and the refined finish expected of a premium accessory.

If you’re planning a retail range, exhibition piece or corporate gifting project, our Sydney-based team can help bring your artwork to silk with a reliable, business-ready approach.
